Publisher: Gros Monti & C.
Country: Italy (Turin)
Publication Era: 1940
Gros Monti obtained the license from Disney in 1940 for only one year, to publish and produce a small range of Snow White merchandise, after which they lost that license. As well as this set of ten postcards, Gros Monti produced a set of 50 cards (which they printed themselves), a book about Snow White, and a calendar. The procedure to obtain the set of postcards was difficult, to say the least. The customer had to first collect the set of 50 cards (all different) by buying certain foodstuffs which contained a card. The 50 cards were then sent to the publisher and in return the collector received the postcards. Not easy at all!
Due to the difficulty of obtaining these postcards, only about ten complete sets are known to exist. I have only ever seen one postally used example (1946).
